The SIXAXIS controller, originally bundled with the PS3, has been upgraded into the DualShock 3. This combines the features of the motion-sensitive SIXAXIS controller with the force feedback functions of the PS2's DualShock 2 controller. The controller operates wirelessly via Bluetooth techonology, though they can also be wired with a USB-to-USB mini cable which is also used to charge the device. The DualShock 3 can sense movement on all three-dimensional axes, and has built-in analog control on the control sticks and buttons.

This is by far the best controller for the PS3!! It was a surprise for my son's birthday and he loved the fact he had silver and not black like everyone else!!
very early christmas present
I ordered this item from amazon back in October of this year so that I could get a good start on my holiday shopping. Not until recently had I seen this item for the PS3 and I knew that when I bought the item it was going to be as prommised in the pikcture because my experience with this site has always been a good one and all of the items that I order come looking brand new and always very quickly! U.S. consumers beware
If you live in the United States and are thinking of purchasing the Japanese version of the Dual Shock 3 controller beware that you have no recourse replacing this item if it breaks within Sony's 90-day warranty period. I owned this controller for one month prior to the X and square buttons becoming unusable. I called SCEA to have the broken controller replaced and they instructed me to send it to their fulfillment department in San Mateo, CA. Two months later, without any contact from SCEA, I called them to receive a status update. They told me that region-specific systems and peripherals must be returned to regional centers (i.e. Japan in this instance). They said they would send me the broken controller back if I desired and I could then send it to Japan. Not a lot of good that will do me now considering the warranty has expired. Thanks Sony.
