Think Twice Before Buying
My son likes this console & the fact that you can play online for free. However, I just spent 0 having my son's PS3 laser & disc tracking repaired after a little over a year. I didn't send it out, I had it repaired here in town. It was nice that the repair only took 24 hours. This way I got my same console back, & that's a good thing because I know how this PS3 has been treated. I bought this Sony product after reading all the terrible Xbox reviews. In the end it didn't make any difference which brand I bought. I mistakenly thought that Sony's PS3 would be a better product failure wise, but I was wrong. This machine was used lightly NOT 24/7 as some do. Ok, so that's 0 for this repair. Rest assured it'll be the only repair because if it fails again, this PS3 goes in the trash!

If you don't mind having to delete your saves within a short amount of time, go ahead and get this system. But if I could turn back time and get my money back, I'd get the 80GB version. It has more functions than the 40, and if you're lucky, you can still find a Metal Gear Solid 4 version with a duelshock 3 controller for the same price of a regular 80GB

I was very pleased with this product it was cheap and came almost in full working order. There was a problem with The standard AV and the Ethernet ports not working, however, i was able to use the wireless and internet and plug into the HDAV port. I probably would have given this a better rating had the advertisement stated that the ports do not work and that was why the price was so cheap. Other than that I was satisfied with the product.
Why This Says 'Silver' I Don't Know...
But what I will do is give a review for this base on me owning the ceramic white JP version. (Ironically I wish I did get my hands on the silver one but I had already gotten this one by the time it came out)
...and before I start, hell no I didn't spend over a grand for it; however I did buy it off of another site (which more or likely I'm sure I won't be able to name, lol). However, I do think it a bit unfair that people are reviewing the product based off of someone else's (not Amazon, for that matter) pricing. So I thought I'd give something of brief, yet geniune product review, as someone who actually owns one.
This is a slightly old review I would say considering I've owned mines for just about 2 yrs now (got it about 2 holiday seasons ago). Originally it was a 40gb that came w/ one matching sixaxis controller. I'd say pretty much everything was probably the same w/ it as the N. American version (or any other PS3 version for that matter). Setup was easy and fairly straight forward--and when it came to changing the HDD it was pretty much the same (w/ only a minute variation pull-out HDD slot looked from what I seen on the tuts on the web). The ceramic white looks awesome and is surprisingly not that hard to keep clean and of course due to the lighter color, you can get away w/ not seeing as many prints. All-in-all I love it and it's a unique difference from the (older) black ones.

It Changed my life
When i bought this i was 34 years old, single, and still living with my parents. With the silver PS3, women faun over me now. I have trouble keeping all the numbers in my blackberry, even with the 4gb of flash memory. Thank you playstation, for making my dreams come true.
Not worth the price
I love the colour because it's different. No PS3 owner I know has this and for that very reason I'd buy it.
Whoever put it up for such a price is an extortionist because after looking it up on google, the average price for this was £221 or 9...
Why then the shocking price tag for the very same item?
You could MOD the case 3 times over for this price!
It would be CHEAPER to buy a brand new PS3 and a find a silver case (or any color case) off eBay and change the case yourself (or pay someone to do it). You can find cases under . You will void the warranty breaking the seal to change the case, but if it ever broke down on you, you could repeat the above process two more times for the price this person is asking.
