A Wide-open LA Like You've Never Imagined Midnight Club Los Angeles drops players into a painstakingly recreated version of world-famous Tinseltown. Broken down into five distinct open-world gameplay areas, linked on the game map, cumulatively these areas comprise a massive area, much larger than anything ever seen in previous
Midnight Club releases and possibly larger than any existing racer to date. Within these areas, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Mulholland Drive and Downtown LA, players are free to engage in mission play driving them to attain and customize a wide range of authentic world-class street racing vehicles, or to simply explore the city, taking on all comers in a variety of race types as they wish. Regardless, along the way they will experience not only the visual realism of the iconic boulevards, freeways, and landmarks made famous in TV and movies, but also the realism of the living breathing LA urban experience. Here traffic backs up then clears as people go to and leave work for the day, weather systems come and go and day turns to night, then back again. All the while the race goes on. It's all part of the living, breathing LA. It's all part of the
Midnight Club.
The Cars Midnight Club: Los Angeles will feature an astounding selection of vehicles in the Muscle Car, Exotics, Tuners, Motorcycle and Luxury car categories. At the time of publishing only a fraction of the total list has been announced, but a good sampling of what players can expect at launch can be seen below. Click the links in each category to see screen shots of the cars:

Extreme Customization
Midnight Club Los Angeles continues the tradition of offering some of the deepest vehicle customization you will find in any video game. The hottest licensed cars and bikes in the world are at your disposal - kit them out, supe them up, and personalize them down to the last detail to make them all your own. Visit
the Club's in-game garages located in Hollywood and Santa Monica and let your imagination run wild - tweaking and fine tuning through the following three different types of vehicle modifications:
Performance & Handling - To become a street legend, you're going to have to tune your vehicle for maximum performance. The garage offers three levels of upgrades for virtually every component on your vehicle, but it's up to you to craft the winning combination that will give you the edge on the competition.
Exterior - For the Midnight Club, stunting is a habit and its clandestine Los Angeles garages have all the toys needed to ensure heads turn in this jaded town. From making sure your car is dripping in candy paint, to adding unique body kits and jaw dropping extras, the garage offers practically limitless possibilities to personalize your vehicle with aftermarket accessories and customizable options.
Interior - Don't embarrass yourself by pulling up with an outrageously kitted-up car that has a 'me-too' factory interior. Not a good look! You're going to be spending a lot of time behind the wheel, so renovate and make yourself feel comfortable.
Beware or Befriend the Local Competition The street racing scene of
Midnight Club is tough, but tight, meaning that everyone that you meet in expansive
Los Angeles could just as easily be an ally as an enemy. One thing is for certain though, they are all willing to throw down at the drop of a hat. Just a few of the faces you'll encounter out on the streets are:
| Karol, Age 45 - A veteran of Moscow's underground street racing circuit, Karol moved to LA in the 1990's after the collapse of the Soviet Union. If you're looking for cars, he's your man. He owns two successful garages and claims to be able to get hold of any vehicle, no questions asked. He also sees himself as a philosopher and will bend your ear if you left him. He mostly races around Hollywood and the Beaches and his rides include a 1975 Datsun 280Z, 1969 Boss Mustang 302, 2006 Dodge Challenger and a 1971 Lamborghini Miura SV. | | Annie, Age 31 - Annie has a rep as one of the fiercest drivers in the city. She detests posers and wannabes, is intelligent and sharp-tongued and pulls no punches when it comes to cutting the competition down to size. She has been spotted in everything from a 1983 VW Golf GTI, 2006 Pontiac Solstice, 2008 Chrysler 300C SRT-8, 2008 Audi RS4 and a 2004 Ford Shelby Cobra Concept and can usually be found hanging out near Pink's Hotdog Stand in Hollywood along with her crew. |

Grrr! Fun until you wanna punch the developers.
Let me put it to you this way: I've been playing the game for about 40 hours and i am only 15% of the way through in Mission Mode. The races are truly difficult. Many of the missions require you to win 2 or 3 races in a series. I can usually win one race, but nearly impossible to win the 2 or 3 required to complete the mission. Even if i avoid hitting any of the damn cars or trees or buildings, even if i make quick turns without much of a skid/glide, and even if i use all of my nitrous boosts, i usually lose the race. This game should have the option to play at various difficulties. Easy, medium, hard, advanced. But there is only one mode and it appears to be advanced. The developers of the next Midnight Club game, listen to me--MAKE THE GAME BEATABLE! It's a video game. Games are meant to be fun, and if you lose all the time, there's no fun in that.
I still give the game a 4 because as long as you don't get frustrated by hardly ever winning, you have beautiful scenery, realistic cars, a great soundtrack, and fun driving to enjoy. I use the logitech g27 and it makes for a very realistic driving experience. But you will still need to use the controller to do some things in the menu section, like zoom in on the map.

If you are into customization, this game is for you
I decided to give this game a try because I wanted a racing game that would let me customize my car to my liking. I must say I really enjoyed playing this game.
The customization was my favorite part of the game. Once you get a car and you start winning some money from races, you can upgrade the interior/exterior and performance parts in your car. Engine upgrades, exhaust, intake, springs, NOS, etc. For those that like their rides to look nice, you can upgrade things like body kits, rims, headlights, tail-lights, etc. You can even choose what size rims, what color, and what size tires to throw on them. Awesome.
As for the gameplay itself, you have a list of missions you need to complete in order to earn more money, rep points, etc. But if you don't feel like doing the missions, you can also earn money and rep points by participating in red-light races (racing someone from a traffic red-light to a specified destination), highway races (racing from a rolling start after flashing another racer with your high beams), pink-slip races (lose the race, lose your ride!), etc.
The only thing I would say was a little annoying was the markers on the road that showed you where you needed to go. There were plenty of times where I made a wrong turn and didn't hit a marker, which forced me to go back and hit the marker because you can't skip markers in the game. If you miss one, you won't get credited for finishing the race. Also, it was a little difficult doing side missions such as the car deliveries because of my constantly having to look at the GPS while trying not to hit on-coming traffic (there are no markers in those missions). A lot of times I ended up having to pause the game while I was driving just so I could look at the map to make sure I was going in the right direction.
Overall, I found this game to be a lot of fun. It's not perfect and there are definitely some flaws, but there aren't too many "perfect" games out there. If you are a hardcore racing simulator fan, you may want to wait for GT5 to drop. But if you are a racing fan looking for a good time and you are into customizing your ride, I would say give this game a shot.

Lots N Lots of Fun
Can't stop playing this game. My other games are mad because all I do is race. I really like this game, street racing with heavy traffic in your way and extra boost for your car to help you win a tight race. The online play is fun also. You can upload pictures of your cars and have other people rate your best ride. I have to stop playing it, I paused it to write this review and now I have the urge to race again. I say, a must buy if your into street racing and pimping out your ride and buying new rides to trick out and unlocking special cars and I could go on but I have to race...

Midnight Club is Excellent!
This game is great with the G25. The controlling is way easier to handle. The graphics are great and the also the sound. This is one of the best arcade racing games I played. The body kits are cool to customize your car. If you are a racer you should buy the game! Overall Excellent!

Midnight Club ya' over the head!
Midnight club has always been a fun series. The first time I played it was on the original xbox. Dub edition was fun, and I spent most of my time customizing my ride. Like that version, I found myself spending countless hours choosing the right rims for my ride, paint combos, etc. then once it was all tricked out, and I took pics - which look breathtaking, I'd trade it for another and do it all over again. For me, that's what makes this game stand out. However, the races outside of the easy ones aren't. I cannot tell you how impressed I would be to see someone smoke every other racer on one of the red lit races. This game is just too hard after a point. And the fact that if you make a mistake, you usually lose, is one of the most annoying factors hurting this game. One wrong move and it's all over. Sad. It really is. But still, when it's on, it's freakin' on. You're bookin' down hollywood boulevard, with the sun setting, in a dropped lambo with metallic red paint, 23's and the retractable flaps popping out as you gain speed, is one of the most beautiful racing moments I've ever had. The lighting, the graphic detail of the cars/city, the courses, the music, all come together to create a wonderful experience that few games have provided racing/atmosphere wise. Still, one wrong move and BOOM, it's all over. So my overall consensus of ths game, is akin to my playing style, once you get bored with this model, eventually you trade it in for another model. But man, what a ride!
