Great Video Game for Youngsters
We bought this system for our son for his 5th birthday about 6 months ago and we love it. It is amazingly easy to set up. We plug it in to the front of our TV, turn it on and it is ready to go. Very intuitive and easy to use. Even my 3 year old has learned how to use it. The only down side I have seen is that the game console and the controller run on AA batteries only. With normal use, they last a few weeks, so it isn't too bad. Our favorite games are golf and bowling. We like to think of this game as training wheels for the eventual purchase of a Wii.

Good game for children - but Wii owners take note
I bought this game because I felt that the clothing and dance moves in DDR were inappropriate for children. Granted, these aspects fly over the heads of children but frankly they are embarrasing for most adults to watch in the presence of children because they are clearly not age appropriate.

The game does not disappoint in that regard while incorporating good moves that are fun to perform and watch. The story mode is a bit too "chatty" but my child doesn't seem to mind.

As a Wii owner, I had to buy separate Gamecube compatible equipment including dance mats and a memory card that will not likely be of any use when I upgrade later to DDR 2 and higher.

Great game to get kids up and moving!
Bought this game for me origanlly but found it a little young. Now my 4 year old grandson is using it. Everytime he comes over he wants to play. It's a great way to get kids up and MOVING. Love it! He can beat the game on easy in an hour. Right amount of time for him and burns off lots of energy. There are higher levels for the more adept player. But even the younger ones can have fun. I just wish there were more of them. Too many kids spend all their time sitting and playing. This is great high energy fun.

Fun for all ages
Hi y'all. i'm not going to comment on the various difficulty levels or features, cause that's been done already. Just a note on my personal experience w/ the game. I turned 57 in August 2009. Had a cardio workup done and doc says I need to get more exercise. I hate exercise!!! The endorphins never seem to kick in and I always feel like I'm being tortured. I think I've tried almost every exercise thing out there. My hubby bought me a Wii for my birthday. I love it and love this game. Scored the game and pad on the cheap on an auction site from a seller who obviously didn't have a clue that they're going for 2+ times what he was asking for the package. I love this game. I know most of you are probably in your 20s or 30s or younger, but there's a fast growing group of baby boomer gamers out there. This game gives me a decent cardio work out on the harder levels, it's lots of fun, I don't feel like I'm exercising (a big plus cause I'll keep at it) and I can play it w/ the kids and grandkids. I worked as a professional dancer when I was younger and really enjoy this game. Especially when I can beat one of my grandkids at it, then I feel like super granny! It even gets my couch potato hubby who's 63 up and shaking his booty. Now if I could just find a game that's this much fun where I get exercise and can learn Spanish too - now that'd be my dream game! So, if you're a subgbug like me and want to start exerciing and enjoying it, get a Wii and this game. PS: I use the mat on a hardwod floor. I just got some of that non-slip thin undermatting made to go under throw rugs and put that down first; the mat stays put even in the most arduous workouts.

I loved it but it was also very short
this game was awesome i love it :D but the only problem is is its length. i beat it in 2 hours. then i tried it again the second time and i beat it in 1 hour and 29 minutes. even though it is really short it is most definetly really fun. i reccomend to people who like to dance or people who dont like to excersise and want a fun way to excersise. give yourself a challenge and do it on hard mode with no breaks ;). i love this game :D

LOOOOOOOOOVE IT!
I absolutely love this game! It was in GREAT condition, just like new. I received it in less than a week. I am enjoying every minute of it!

BATMAN THE VIDEO GAME

Batman: The Video Game

Batman: The Video Game
Binding: Video Game
Manufacturer: Sunsoft
Product Description:
This listing is for a Nes Video Game Version. Batman the Video game. Storyline: The citizens of GOTHAM CITY are busy planning the city's 200th Anniversary Festival, but there is not much to celebrate. Crime and violence rule the city. The only man who can free the city from THE JOKER'S evil clutches is the one and only - BATMAN! With your help, the CAPED CRUSADER can defeat THE JOKER and save the good people of GOTHAM CITY. BATMAN is armed with special weapons and acrobatic strength. He must destroy 15 different types of enemies and 5 bosses, while traveling through 5 stages. Finally, BATMAN comes face-to-face with THE JOKER! But who will prevail? It's up to you! --From the NES Batman instruction manual. Overview: Batman is based loosely on the Michael Keaton/Jack Nicholson movie. Batman is out to stop the Joker from terrorizing Gotham City. There are some cinema scenes between levels, that show the Batmobile driving around or confrontations with the Joker. The cut-scenes have nice graphics to look at. The in-game graphics are good, too. There are some quotes from the movie included, and much of the scenery came right from the movie, too, such as the Axis Chemical Plant, and Batman's final showdown against the Joker in the clock tower. The sounds were also reminiscent of the movie. The controls were a little tricky at first, but easy to use once you get used to them. The ability to make Batman jump off the walls was a really fun feature. This platformer based on the movie was definitely an exception to the rule that all games based on movies are crappy.

The Best of the Bats? (1)
After so many years, I finally get to review this game on Amazon.com (wondering what took them so long to add this game). Let's get something straight right off the bat... er, whatever: if you have never played this game or even seen videos or screenshots and you want to play a game that faithfully creates an interactive experience of the 1989 movie, you're better off with the Genesis or Arcade version. What you'll get in the NES version is a story very loosely based on the movie with many stages and enemies you never saw in the movie. You'll fight robots, ninja turtles with flame throwers, spiky robotic bugs, tanks, a red ninja who looks somewhat like Ryu from Ninja Gaiden, a monkey that throws crescents at you, moving boxes, some guy with a jet pack in front of the Gotham Courthouse who throws fireballs and dives at you, some weird-ass machine, and ... this could go on for quite a while. While some of the stages may look slightly familiar (Gotham City streets, the Axis Chemicals factory, and the Cathedral), most look nothing like the movie: caves, power plants, the sewer, and an "art museum" that looks absolutely nothing like a museum, much less the one in the movie. The cathedral itself doesn't resemble the one in the movie much either, but at least you get to fight The Joker in the end, and yes he does look like The Joker.

So, in case you're still reading, you may be wondering why I rated it four stars. Because it's a hell of a lot of fun! That's why! As unfaithful to the movie as it is, this game is a blast to play with all the wall-jumping (don't worry; there's not too much of it), flying fists of fury, and enough challenge to make the game not too easy. You'll get infinite continues when you run out of lives and they only set you back to the first stage in the current chapter, not the beginning of the entire game.

The music? It's one of my favorite soundtracks, but it's nothing like the movie. If you've played other SunSoft games on the NES, you should know what to expect.

Inclusion of stages where you drive the batmobile and/or batwing would have secured a fifth star, but no game is perfect.

If you consider yourself a fan of old-school 2D action with some platform jumping thrown in, you owe it to yourself to give this a try. Otherwise you might want to consider a different hobby from video games.

One of the Best
Batman for the nes is quite possibly one of the best sidescrolling games based off of a comic book liscense and sheer quality of this game is not often found with old games that are usually rushed to coincide with a movie's release date. Thiat is not the case here, what we have is a fun and challenging game that is leaps and bounds better than most of the nes competition.
For a game that's over twenty years old, the graphics are very detailed with lots of nice background effects like buzz saws spinning on the ground and the joker's face appearing on the computer moniters. Another cool effect is the spinning gears in the clock tower which also happens to be one of the most epic last levels in 8 bit. The only real problem graphically is that many of the middle levels don't really match the Batman theme very well and appear to be lifted from another game entirely whcih is really less of a complaint and more of a curiosity.
The gameplay is pitch perfect and the Batman handles in such a natural way. From the wall jumping to switching your three weapons on the fly, everything is mapped out to perfection. Many times playing this, I forgot I was even holding a controller, it really is that intuitive.
Last but certainly not least, there is the music. Each level has it's own melody that ranges from sweeping thatrical action compositions to moody more subtle sound. One thing is for certain, few nes games can manage to utilize the hardware and make the sound as quality as this. This here is a soundtrack that easily compares to megaman or castlevania and in case your new to 8 bit, that's a huge compliment.
Anyway, if you have an old nes lying around, dust it off and play this little gem. Even if your not a fan of Batman but can appreciate some old school platforming, this is worth checking out. Sunsoft really did a tremendous job on this one and it's a shame more people don't include this in their listmania lists because I would pick this up over super mario 2 any day of the week.

One of two great Batman games
I loved this game when it was new, and still like it many years later. The only thing that's changed is that I'm not nearly as good at video games as I used to be. I beat this game originally, but this time around struggled to beat the second boss. Still a great game though, and I still think the graphics are great for an 8-bit system.

The Dark Knight At His Pixelated Best
There is no denying the fact that the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) was, at its very best, a flawed piece of hardware. Gamers everywhere will remember all the tricks of the trade (blowing, pumping, squeezing, etc.) in order to get the games to boot up. Yet, for all its quirks, that system can never be accused of one thing: churning out classic games that entertained gamers for hours on end. "Batman" is one of those games.

Based on the 1989 film of the same name, this game follows the basic progression of the movie, including such levels as Gotham City, the sewer plant, Joker's television studio, and the Belltower. You play as the Caped Crusader who must dispose of a wide range of enemies (both on land and in the air) while also utilize some fancy jumping skills to scale tall buildings and reach key platforms.

I think that the real genius of the game, though, shines through in its perfectly designed difficulty curve. Though I consider "Punch-Out!" to be my all-time favorite NES game (with this one a close second), in that collection of pugilistic confrontations there is just too much difference between the hardest villain (Tyson/Dream) and the one that proceeded him (Super Macho Man). Basically, you can dominate the entire game and still get floored by Tyson/Dream quite regularly. Fortunately, Batman does not fall prey to that design flaw. Don't get me wrong...the game can be very difficult at times. Yet, the difficulty progresses in such a fashion that the skills learned in one stage will need to be mastered before you have any chance at the next one.

Also, on a bit of a side note, the music in this game is some of the best the NES ever produced. For those of you who are able to appreciate an 8-bit soundtrack, you will be able to listen to Batman's tunes all night long.

To conclude, I think that the true test of the success of this game comes from the fact that it has taken nearly two decades to produce another highly-rated Batman video game (the recently-released Arkham Asylum). All the iterations of the Dark Knight in between either suffered from bad controls, stupid story, or goofy graphics. Who would have thought that the best edition would come from a system as flawed as the NES?!

One Of The Dark Knight's Better Outings
Out of all the Batman games out there (and trust me, there are quite a few), this is one of my favorites. The gameplay is satisfying, the levels are well-designed, and the music is excellent. Batman has some pretty cool weapons as well, such as batarangs and a "Batgun", both of which are fun to use. Batman also has a neat, but uncharacteristic, Ninja Gaiden style wall jump. The only problem I found was the lack of better villains. Sure The Joker is the end boss, but where are Two-Face, The Penguin, and The Riddler? Most of the enemies are generic, but well-designed. The game is very challenging too. Also, the color scheme is a little strange. Batman appears to be purple instead of the traditional blue. All in all, a good game for both Batman and the NES.

My son really likes it!
My son never really liked the wii wheels where you put the controller in it and steered in mid air. He enjoyed using this as it turns more like an arcade wheel. I did read the reviews about the table, and sort of agree that a convenient table may be something many people don't have(we have a leather storage ottoman there, not a table.) We decided to use one of those Table Mate trays, since we have those for the kids and it worked really well and use it for the wheel. It is adjustable and can be put away when the game isn't being played. Worked well for us!

Not as cool as we were hoping, but it has a niche for younger players
We were excited about the Kart Challenge Racing Wheel Wii when we first heard about it, but it doesn't turn out be be great for our family. I think this is in part because my son is now 15 and we have a higher level of game play... I think it might actually be a great present for a younger kid.

Pros:
1. Unlike many Wii devices, does not need a Wii remote to work.
2. Having the pedals is excellent

Cons
1. Wired. So you can't be far from the Wii.
2. It needs to be anchored, by clamping to a table of an appropriate height. We actually had a nearby end table that we tried to appropriate for this purpose, but it wouldn't work... the table needs to have an overhang of about 6 inches, and ours has only 2 or so. (Overhang of the top of the table to the base/supporting part of the table.) We were unable to attach the racing wheel to the table.
3. It seems to be sized for smaller hands. It's actually a little bit bigger in diameter than the Wii driving wheels, but due to the positioning of the controls at the back, we found it more cramped than the Wii wheel for our big hands.

Despite the disadvantages, if I had a young Wii player (say in the 5-8 range) to shop for (and think there might be a solution to the clamping issue), I think this would be an excellent present. It's cool, and it would be lots of fun for a young player.

Lots of Fun, But Beware Short Cord (Not Wireless)
My 5 year old daughter is having a blast with this product as I write this. The Kart Challenge Racing Wheel works with both the GameCube and the Wii (or the Wii running GameCube games), and it is ideal for Mario Kart Wii or Mario Kart for the GameCube.

There are two main components to the product: (1) a steering wheel that clamps on to a desk or table, and (2) a foot panel that includes both an accelerator and brake pedal. For a young child, this offers the benefit of no buttons to memorize.

The only real negative part of the product is that it is not wireless, and it has a very short GameCube style cord that has to plug into the top of the Wii (or into the front of the GameCube). You might need one or more controller extension cords, or the product simply may not work for you if you can't easily place it close to the console.

We used a small table and a child sized chair, and we put it pretty much right in front of the TV and Wii.

Nintendo also makes a steering wheel product (the Wii Wheel), and it is wireless, but it is not nearly as much fun as this wheel.

As a grown-up, I still prefer using the Nunchuk controller for Mario Kart Wii, but the kids love this Racing Wheel.

There is a clamp to hold the wheel in place on the tabletop, so your table or desk needs to be able to support a clamp immediately underneath the wheel. Otherwise, the steering wheel will move around too much.

Because it uses a GameCube style cord/plug, it should work with any Wii or GameCube game where a steering wheel makes sense.

Tip: When firing up Mario Kart Wii with this controller, use the gas pedal to confirm your options (character, car, etc.), and use the brake pedal to go back.

Better Performance, but not that much more fun.
We have just the right small table to attach this device to, and my son is able to use this, pedals and wheel, just as they were designed to be used. Wii racing games are pretty fun... Mario Kart is great.

This device gave slightly better feel, a more crisp driving experience. It was kinda more fun than using the wii controller inside one of those plastic wheels they fit into.

But not that much more fun. In fact, there was not a competitive advantage of any real sort. And the little table and the entire set-up starts to get in the way, contributes to the "too-many-cables" feel. It is a step back of sorts to go from a wireless controller to a wired up gizmo-type feel. And I doubt we would ever buy 3 more so that 4 friends can race!

Plays with any race game
Any race game which is Wii or GameCube compatible.

The Thrustmaster Kart Challenge Racing Wheel for the Wii is a plug and play game controller, used instead of a Wii wheel, joystick, or other controller. This product is not wireless, which would've been nice. I don't mind hooking things up if it won't affect play, but it's my opinion that cords all over the place are ugly, a safety hazard, and things kids will be playing get broken more easily when they have cords.

The Kart Challenge Racing Wheel is plug and play - we had our 6 year old hook it up to see how easily it was done. With little instruction he found where to hook it into the Wii box (on top), and then hooked it into the Kart Racing Wheels pedals with no problem. Unfortunately, initially we didn't clamp it onto a table or set it on a table - so we didn't have the advantage of the non-slip pads on the bottom of the wheel base. We had to hold it between our knees - which wasn't very bright. When we clamped it to the table - what a difference! It was a breeze to use and made all the difference in controlling turns.

The first game we played using the wheel was Mario Kart for Wii, and the first thing the adults noticed during play was the vibration wasn't very strong. We were having a blast though, so it didn't really matter. Our sons had never played using a wheel, and they were just having the thrill of playing. We like race games, and it was a real bonus to have the wheel at home to play games.

Our sons played F-zero-GX after we all played Mario Kart. F Zero GX is a Game Cube game, and playing it using the Kart Challenge Racing Wheel was really enjoyable. Both of our boys are very adept at playing all kinds of games, and have become used to staying in front of the sensor. As I watched I notice they were easily able to do all the things I have trouble with - like staying in front of the sensor, not being able to hold onto the wheel prior to clamping it, and knowing how to program the wheel. Our kids are more adept at playing games where really good hand eye coordination is needed.

I think the adults who'd played with wheel controllers weren't as please with the Kart Challenge Racing Wheel than the kids were. For the kids just playing a game in a new way, with a new accessory was fun. For the adults there was more to consider - e.g. would I buy this - I would because we didn't have a wheel, and this felt more solid to us, also some of the wheels don't have pedals, and this one did - which the kids enjoyed. Can more than one player play at a time? No Is that a consideration? Yes, for us it is. We usually only buy if there's a 2 player option.
The cord presented a problem for me - as stated above. For other adults the consideration was having to be within 5 + feet or so of the TV, and needing a table to clamp the wheel to. We didn't use what came with the wheel, but little clamps we had for something else.

Other people seemed more unhappy with it. I think they all had more experience playing with wheels, and probably playing games in general. But it was fun, and esp for the kids - which is why we buy these kinds of things anyway, so I gave it a pretty good rating. Others playing with us might not have rated it quite so highly, the kids said they'd rate it as I did.
