Nascar Game for Wll and Steering wheel
My 5 yr old grandson had a blast playing this game with the steering wheel we also bought from Amazon.com

Nascar Game
GREAT fun! My kids and family members love it, as do my kids' friends!

NASCAR Kart Racing
I thought this was going to be a fun race car game, but I lost interest in it very quickly, and now I never play it at all. There is nothing terribly special about this game, and if you are looking for a good race car game I recommend looking else where.

great wii game for kids
Not particularly challenging -- too bad this was the only NASCAR release by EA for the year, BUT my six year old really seems to enjoy it. Best of all the kart games I've seen.

Fun for any age
My 5 year old wanted a racing game for our new Wii. We bought him this one since it was rated E for everyone and that he loves NASCAR. Within two days he was placing first place and even beating me at it. It is a fun and easy game to learn. We both have a blast playing it.

Fun game
Overall, this game is great! My daughter loved it. The Only down side of it, is the volume on the players voice vs the singer. I wish the quality on that were a little better. Other then that, it is a GREAT and FUN family game!!!

Kids love it
This is a great game for the whole family, even my four year old played it and loved it. Great item to get the whole family involved.

You Should Sing It Too!
This is a great game, my 8 year old loves it. She can belt it out; my 3 year old and wife even get into the mix as well. It is fun for Dad as well.

5 Stars. Wii got the one that came with the microphone. What a homerun!!

Not very good for Karaoke
The concept was good, all the awesome Disney songs for kids. I was lured in by that promise of hours of entertainment for my kids. However, that was the only good thing about the game. The game is fairly simple with no customization options at all. You cannot even adjust the pitch so unless the key of the original song is in your key, you are out of luck. The karaoke functions are nonexistent. The one we had for the XBox was much better and more fun than this one. Very disappointed.

I really like this
My daughter and I sing, and compete singing with this game. I enjoy the songs, and beating her. :)

Love playing Aerosmith songs, wish there were more of them
I really like playing the Aerosmith songs on Guitar Hero for Wii. I just wish there were more Aerosmith songs in the song list. Some very good songs were not included in the game at all (eg. Janie's Got A Gun, Hole In My Sole, I Don't Want To Miss A Thing) However, I actually like the layout of this game better than World Tour & Guitar Hero 5. The Aerosmith version, I think, was produced in the same time frame as Guitar Hero 3 and has the same layout. You can create separate bands/careers for separate players. In the newer version, you cannot create separate careers. Overall, the game is awesome. If you like Aerosmith, you will like this game.

Um. . .What hits are these?
So, I'm 30 years old. I was definitely expecting songs crossing all their decades of existence. But this is more like a 1975 and earlier B Sides Compilation. I've never even heard of half these songs. So, I continued playing thinking that the unlockable and buyable songs would be the big ones. Nope, just "Pink", and that's it. Huge let down. Relisted it on Amazon to cut my loses.

Aerosmith game
Fun game - not the best Guitar Hero but certainly a great one! I beat it already but it'll entertain you for a few hours. Has a lot of good commentary from the actual band in between "shows" and a lot of good songs. I highly recommend it for any Aerosmith fan

awesome aerosmith
As a huge Aerosmith fan I had to get this and I am so glad I did. I love them even more now.

Disappointed
I was looking so forward to playing this game. I played all the songs in two days. I was really disappointed with the song selection, I thought there would be more songs. To me it was a waste of money.

Gamers must help Ben take the Omnitrix out of retirement and lead eight different playable characters-including cousin Gwen, enemy-turned-ally Kevin Levin and five of Ben's brand new alien forms-Swampfire, Jet Ray, Humungousaur, Spidermonkey and Big Chill-to utilize their all-new super powers and defeat the intergalactic invaders. Gamers will also experience tons of new story content.

Gameplay is fast-paced, 3D and action-adventure based, offering an unlimited combo system with puzzles and challenges that will engage players of all levels for hours at a time. Ben 10: Alien Force The Game comes on the heels of a tremendously successful inaugural game, BEN 10: Protector of Earth, which launched in November 2007 and has sold more than one million units worldwide, making this an adventure not to be missed.

Playable Characters
Ben Tennyson - Ben fills the role of leader after Max disappears. The Omnitrix has been recalibrated, giving him access to a new set of alien heroes. Over the past few years, Ben has matured dramatically.

Gwen Tennyson - Now 15, Gwen is much more proficient with her powers, able to manipulate energy directly as opposed to using spells. Gwen is much calmer and grown up, nowhere near as fiery or sharp-tongued as she was five years ago.

Kevin Levin - A former nemesis of Ben, 16-year-old Kevin reforms and joins the Tennysons on their quest to repay Magister for saving him from the Forever Knights. While not as psychotic as he once was, he still desires revenge for his time in the Null Void at first, though he puts it aside to help stop the Highbreed. His abilities now allow him to absorb the properties of any solid matter he touches.

Humongousaur - Humongousaur is a Vaxasaurian, a humanoid dinosaur alien from the planet Terradino (a play on 'dino' from dinosaur). Standing at about twelve feet tall, Humongousaur has great strength and vast resistance to injury. He also has the power to increase his own body size and mass, growing up to sixty feet in height. His strength increases as he grows, and his dinosaur features become more pronounced.

Spidermonkey - Spidermonkey is a Arachnichimp (a play on arachnid and chimpanzee) from the planet Aranhascimmia. As his name suggests, he is a six-limbed monkey-like alien. He has superhuman agility and, like a spider, can spin webs that he can swing from or create nets from his tail, and stick to walls. When Ben transforms into Spidermonkey, he talks in an excited, childish tone and displays mischievous characteristics with occasional monkey-like screeching.

Jetray - Jetray is a Aerophibian (a play on 'aero' for air and amphibian) from the planet Aeropela. Jetray is a manta ray-like alien capable of flying and swimming faster than the speed of sound. He can fire neuroshock blasts from his eyes and tail, and the stingers on his head carry a powerful poison.

Swampfire - Jetray is a Aerophibian (a play on 'aero' for air and amphibian) from the planet Aeropela. Jetray is a manta ray-like alien capable of flying and swimming faster than the speed of sound. He can fire neuroshock blasts from his eyes and tail, and the stingers on his head carry a powerful poison.

Big Chill - Big Chill is a moth-like alien whose wings and antennae can "fold" up, giving him the appearance of a phantom; his appearance is reminiscent of the cryptid known as Mothman. He can become intangible and invisible, and can breathe freezing vapor. He can also freeze the objects he phases through at his discretion.

Key Game Features:

  • Authentically Step Into The 'Alien Force' World - Play the only video game that allows you to command members of the 'Alien Force' team; investigate never-before-seen locations, enemies and characters, and explore favorite places from the best show episodes.
  • Multiple Playable Characters with Special Superpowers - Take control of Ben and his new alien forms Swampfire, Jet Ray, Humungousaur, Spidermonkey and Big Chill to manipulate fire, swim underwater, grow more than 60 feet tall, stick to walls, fly at mach speed, plus lots more! Harness Gwen's talent to create an energy shield to protect and attack, and use Kevin Levin's ability to absorb materials to create impenetrable body armor.
  • Solid and Robust Gameplay - Explore action-packed levels and secret sections in arcade-style gameplay as you clash with more than 20 types of enemies; use more than 75 attack options and create unlimited attack chaining with the streamlined combo system; engage in two-player co-op on the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system for hours of fun and replayability.
  • Based On a Successful Television Franchise - As one of Cartoon Network's breakout original franchises, the Ben 10: Alien Force television series is in its first season as a top-rated show, and is the next generation continuation of the phenomenally successful and Emmy-winning Ben 10 original series. A long form television movie based on Ben 10: Alien Force will debut on Cartoon Network in fall 2008.
  • Exceptional Level of Authenticity - The game's art style, sound effects and music are 100% authentic, with all audio in the game pulled directly from the show sound vaults and all voice acting provided by the original television cast.

Palmermom

My son, his babysitter, and my husband have been glued to it. It is a bit hard for my 6 year old, but he is getting it and doing quite well. Graphics are a bit lacking, but overall....cool game.

Buggy beyond Belief
We are currently trying to work our way through the Wii version.

The entire family loves Ben 10 but hates this game.

After one frustrating session, my wife looked daggers at me and vehemently asked "What possessed you to buy this game"

My meek answer

Humungusour....

We are only just on level 3. Bugs encountered so for:

Bugs
1. On level one you are told to change into jet ray and then spider monkey.... Jet ray and spider monkey are not available until level 2, 3.
2. On level 3 in a tip you are told to turn into humungusaur. Humungusour is not available until level 4.
3. On level one you are supposed to break security cameras to get into a warehouse door. For us there was no door on the warehouse, trying to jump through the open door resulted in a long fall into a void then death. We had to replay all of level one to get the door back on the warehouse.
4. Clipping and camera issues that are just plain annoying. To be frank, this game often looks like bad shareware from the 90's

Maybe not bugs but plain annoying:

In section one, with two players, you often need to jump on a platform that is not in view on the screen. You figure out which way to go because that is the only way the game will let you fall off and die.

There is a section on level 2 where you need to ride steam or something up to get to a platform. The problem is if you have two people (for example you are playing with and helping your kid) you can not get the platform into camera view no matter what you do. After multiple flying up then falling to death we figured out that need to kill one ben 10, then with only one on the screen the camera view will change enough to let you get to the platform.

Again on level 2 there is a section where you need get past two towers to get to the boss at the end. You need to use spider monkey to shoot a web to an anchor point and pull your self up. Only the anchor point is not in the camera view and you can't tell where it is. Finally after many deaths and much googling we found the answer is to stand anywhere, hit the Z button and swing the nunchuck up. This is the only place in the level (and maybe the game) that you need to swing the nunchuck up.

Be aware that this is less a fighting game and more a, hop here hop there fall and die there start all over again game. This became apparent in the platform jumping in the first level (where the voice tells you to be jet ray but you can't). If you like hop hop hopping around then this game is for you.

Two player mode: When you play as two players you would think the game would in some way distinguish the second player. Maybe let you play as another character or at least change the color of Ben's shirt or the alien; in some way distinguish one character from the other. Unfortunately you get two carbon copy Ben 10's (or aliens) on the screen. This is very confusing for the kids as they can't figure out which Ben/Alien is theirs. Well OK it can also be confusing for the adults.

I'm tempted to play myself through level 3, get to the humugusour level for my kids, then after that game/stop this game.

Wii controls: The game makes almost no use of the wii motion sensing features. While there are wii remote options for the controlls there are also button substitutes that are quicker and easier for almost everything. To be blunt, this is not a wii game. It's a platformer you can play on the wii. It's annoying to have to use the nunchuck with this game and very annoying to have the jump button on the nunchuck instead of the B button.

I've read that the first ben ten game is much better. Maybe. Maybe. After we have had enough time to erase this horrible game from our memory we will give that one a try.

Doesn't anyone debug or test games any more?
I'd like to start off by saying that my 4 year old son is a huge Ben 10 fan and does enjoy the game and that is the only reason i won't be sending it back.

Game play is basically the same as in the first Ben 10 game, you unlock more aliens and moves as you progress through the story line. This game has a more 3d look that the first Ben 10 game that had more of a cartoon feel.

Pros:
-The ability to attack by moving and waving the wiimote and nunchuck is great for younger kids who won't be able to do the button combinations for all the moves.
-Actual voices from the show, lots of video scenes to watch
-Ben 10 fans (kids) probably won't notice the huge game play issues.

Cons:
-The biggest problem is that the game is just horribly buggy. Especially in 2 player mode. Camera tracking is bad, interaction between objects is poor (can fall through floors, float in the air on nothing, die and come back over open pits and just die in a loop) When my son and I play I will join in to get past some harder areas and with the bugs in game play you simply can't complete the game in 2 player mode all the way through.
-Compared to the first Ben 10 game, it seems like it is way too short and just ends in the middle of the story line.
-Level selection is just a text list and is missing the map feature of the first game.

Conclusion:
If you have to choose a Ben 10 game to play, Ben 10 Protector of the Earth is a better choice, or maybe wait until the new Ben 10 Alien Force Vilgax Attacks comes out the end of October 2009.

Boring, even for a 6 year old.
The music in this game will put you to sleep. The repetitive voice clips during battle are beyond annoying. The graphics are laughable. Even the 6 year old I purchased this for thought it looked horrible.

Playing with a second player is a complete joke. Rather than letting one character be Ben adn another be Gwen or Kevin, BOTH players are the same character. You can't even change colors to tell the characters apart. That makes for some confusing fights!

Once your child completes all 8 levels (which they will do in one night), there is nothing to bring them back to the game. The game is boring, awkward, and highly repetitive.

If you have a big Ben 10 fan in your household, I suggest renting this game so you're not out a lot of money on top of having a disappointed child.

Very fun game and intereactive.
My 5 year old son loves it. Very good game. I enjoy playing the game with him as well. Graphics are good and good game play. Has not gotten bored. I recommend this game.

My kids seem to like it
I'd always heard about the Sims games and never played any previous versions of this type of game but know they've been around for a long time. This game was just for the kids and I honestly couldn't imagine an adult wanting to play this game. First thing though is your kids need to be able to read to play this game, otherwise you're going to be sitting their the whole time narrating for them. Our 8 year old and 6 year old like it and have spent a good amount of time playing it, although our 6 year old who's still learning to read gets stuck on the bigger words and needs some help from time to time, so I would say definitely not good for kids who cannot read yet.

What I've observed of the game it's strictly a building & puzzle solving type of a game. There are no timers from what I saw, so more or less you are presented with a task and need to figure out how / what to build to accomplish it to move on to the next thing. Some things require you to win over some of the locals to get certain objects to complete the puzzles and there is a certain humor about what you can do and stuff. Although everything is geared right for kids and the game has been fun enough to keep our kids interest while not being to hard to where they need to ask for our help, which is good as I don't want to have to micro manage game play for them especially since it's a single person only. So the kids take turns on it. Out of our Wii games it's certainly one of the tamer and slower paced games we own, but again it seems to keep our kids interests. So for them I'd probably give it a solid 3 out of 5

For me though I have a bit of a different opinion of the game. While I think it's great in that they need to do some reading and have to think about puzzle solving, there are some things that do annoy me about the game. That being said this is not a game where I can just sit there and watch our kids play it as I would fall asleep, so again it's definitely not a spectators game like Mario Cart or something of the like. It's a game targeted at a specific age range of around 6 - 10 again with the ability to read being a requirement. Anyone higher than 10 years old I would think would find it boring as the puzzles aren't that hard and the game play is just too slow to keep a 10+ year old interested.

Now for the thing that really does rub me the wrong way with this game is the audio. Have your kids ever had a toy that they loved, but it just made some certain sound that was repetitive or annoying such that over time just drove you nuts? Well this game falls into that realm for me. I'm not a racist person by any means and I know someone out there is going to take offence to this and I am sorry and don't mean for it to be, so I apologize in advance. The game, audio wise has a very Asian feel or should I say Asian "theme" to it which drives me nuts over time. It's not the background theme music so much although I do find that very repetitive, it's mostly everything else. I don't know how else to describe it other than saying it would be like flipping on an Asian channel on the TV and just listening to it in the background while you did other things around the house, you just wouldn't do that or if you did it would probably drive you nuts... Sims has its own made up gibberish language "Simlish" and although you have choice variations, they all sound Asian to me. Oddly it's one of those things where it probably wouldn't bother me if I were actually playing the game as I'd be concentrating on reading the text and doing the activity rather than just hearing the gibberish in the background. Seriously though 15 minutes of this and I want to go get some ear plugs. But if that wasn't bad enough as you are constructing your project & solving the puzzles in which there is no annoying dialog to listen to, your character along with those who are around you constantly make ho / hum noises. So when they aren't talking Simlish, you are listening to "Ho", "Humph", "Err", "Heh", "WHoooohahaha" some of which are some laughs that just get annoying too. It's hard to explain but this wouldn't be so bad if it were every 10 - 20 seconds, but this is constantly going on all the time. It's like listening to someone mumble to themselves. I'm very curious if this bothers anyone else of if it just strikes a nerve with me for some reason. So for me I have to give the game a 2/5 simply because as background noise it just drives me nuts, but the kids like it so what am I to do ya know???

Final thoughts - It's a game that has kept my kids interests and is a constructive game as a whole, but the age range is very limited and the audio can be annoying for second hand listeners

Inventive and Appropriate for All Ages
My father got this game for my younger brother and I. We both really enjoy playing it, even with the small glitches. My only complaints are that it is only a one-player game because it would be fun for multiple players, and that you may want to supervise younger kids who play to avoid problems. My brother freaked out when he accidentally erased the king's castle. Other than that, I believe that the game is fun for all age groups, and has a refreshing new theme of helping people instead of killing the dragon and zombies to get to the next level. It promotes community ideas instead of violence, like so many other games these days. You get to exercise your creative juices by building houses and fixing gadgets, not shooting things randomly. While some complain about the made up language that the MySims speak, it did not bother me when I played, and the dialogue was humorous and inventive. I have not played all of the other MySims games, but I found this one to be very detailed and have spent many hours playing it. Even after you finish all of the original game, there are still jobs for you to do on the islands. You will lose interest before you run out of jobs to do. This game is addictive, and you will spend many hours enjoying the characters, each of which has their own personality; the different islands; and just letting your inner creativity run wild. I recommend this game to anyone who enjoys creating things or just has time to spare. MySims Kingdom is worth the money.

An 18 Year old MySims Fanatic
I love the MySims games! Growing up, I was never allowed to play the normal sims games (and I'm thankful now that I know what I know a few reasons backing their decision). Being old, it took me only a few days to beat, and that wasn't playing in that long of hunks.. But it is still very awesome! You can build wherever, you have a little more freedom in what you make.. I do feel this one had some major bugs though, for instance when i was on Trevor Island I forgot where the stupid dragon was and ran him into a whole behind the stage, once he's back there he will never get out and you just have to move back to different islands to beat the game. I'm not usually a play-a-game-a-second-time type person.. I beat it, and it's complete, but with the bugs it did irritate me and I might actually do it..Anyways the original is better due to the bugs in this (there are others but that was the most prominent to me).. but still awesome! And so much fun to get your creative mind working which i love to do :D

Good game, but has some hard parts
First you choose your character then you try to win a wizard competition which is really fun. In the game there is this man called Barney who lives on a boat and you try and build a house for him which I like. You also try to herd the pigs to a grumpy lady. At the wizard contest you have to figure out what to do which is hard.

Unless you are interesting in Engineering....Don't Bother!!!!
Ok..I got this game free with my Wii from QVC...This game was fun at first! I loved the fact that you can control how your sims character looks and I was into the storyline. I liked how you interacted with your environment..IE..rummaging in drawers, sleeping in ppls beds...but The fact that you have to build things with cogs..and When I got to the second Island and had to help the pizza guy build pipes to water his tomatoes....I lost it!!!! Who thinks it is fun to figure out what pipe connectors you need to build a sprinkler system to water tomatoes? If you don't, this game is NOT for you!!!! I hate this game for this reason..If they had just kept it a role playing game of sorts, it would be fine. But to expect us to want to do this stuff..and you can only use certain pipes a certain amt of times....GRRRR!!!!!!! If it wasn't a free game for me, I would be mad!!!!!! I am going to buy Mario Kart and Super Mario Bros tomorrow to have SOME games that are fun to play!!!!!!! Don't waste your time or money on this one!!!

i didn't like it
I love this kind of game but, I can honestly say that, "I hate PIKMIN" This could have been a pretty cool game, maybe a 3 or 3.5 except for one major thing. The game is set up and divided into a series of very short "Days" and this is the problem. Each day is maybe 15 min, or so. Now it would be really cool if you could just go around exploring these different worlds trying to find these different pieces of the ship and then trying to figure out how to get them back to your ship using the different PIKMIN but, rather than that every 10 min you have to start rounding up your PIKMIN so that you can get them back to your landing site before dark because any PIKMIN that get left behind will be lost. This destroys the game. And with each passing day you begin to hate this game more and more and more. I have played this game for over 10 hrs and am currently on day 28 of 30 days. But, that's as much wasted time as I'm willing to give this game, I'm DONE.

Very Fun
I had never played pikmin before. It is a lot of fun - reminds me a lot of the old Lemming's PC game. You get to control three diferent types of alien flower creatures that worship you. I haven't completed it yet, but for the price, you can't go wrong here if you like real time puzzle games.

In-Depth, Addictive and fun game play
The original Pikmin was an underrated game on The Gamecube Console back in 2001. Now it seems to be suffering the same fate. The title and cover suggest a cutesy and shallow game experience for the very young ones only. However this is an in-depth real time strategy game that is a lot of fun and I'm a big fan of games like StarCraft and even Warcraft III! It is certainly far from shallow! The Wii controls on this game work perfectly and complement the game well. Overall If you missed it on Gamecube (or finished it back in 2001 like me) this is your chance to enjoy an amazing game experience and at this price, it's a steal!

Actually when I passed this version a couple weeks ago I immediately started playing it again from the beginning, no breaks with other games, and then I passed it and immediately started playing it again, each time passing it at a better time. You won't want to put it down! I know I sure didn't. Now I can't wait until they release Pikmin 2 for the "New Play Control" series!

As much fun as the one on the Gamecube
I've been a huge fan of the "Pikmin" and "Pikmin 2" games ever since they came out for the "Gamecube"; I have both of them and I have this one for the Wii too. The gameplay hasn't changed much at all: you play as Captain Olimar, an astronaut from the planet Hocotate, who, while on vacation, going somewhere in space, accidently has an asteroid crash into his ship, the S.S. Dolphin, which makes him crash onto the Pikmin Planet and scatters his thirty rocket parts all throughout it. He befriends the Pikmin, part-plant, part-animal friendly aliens, that you use to help you get all of your rocket parts back in the thirty day time limit, so that he can get off of the planet before his life-support systems fail and he dies due to the poisonous oxygen on the Pikmin Planet. The only changes to the game are the Wii controls and some sound effects. The controls are, mostly, very easy to use and they feel more natural when you play. Instead of having the cursor a few feet away from Olimar, you now can point at the screen with the Wii Remote to move the cursor to where you want it to go, so throwing Pikmin and calling them to you with your whistle is much easier than in the original game. The only control that I had trouble using is the bottom button on the control pad that you use to swarm/march your Pikmin, that replaces the C-Stick; you press it and your Pikmin will march in the direction where your cursor is, so you have to point the cursor to where you want them to go and hold down the bottom control pad button, and sometimes, all of your Pikmin won't go to where the cursor is, so you have to move Olimar with the control stick on the Nunchuk controller while doing all of those things, if you want all of your Pikmin to go to where the cursor is, so that takes some getting used to. Some of the sound effects are different too: some of the Bulborb sound effects are a little bit squeakier than in the original and some of the sounds from Olimar's ship, the S.S. Dolphin, are a little squeaky, too. It's still as much fun as the original on the "Gamecube", though! You still collect rocket parts, battle enemies, grow more Pikmin, tear down wooden and stone gates, use bomb rocks, and everything else that you did in the original game. The Challenge Mode is still there, too. It's an incredibly fun and addictive game and I love it as much as the original on the Gamecube, so the only reason that I'm giving it a four out of five stars is that, since Nintendo remade this game and is remaking "Pikmin 2", I wish they could have added a few things to it, such as, maybe some unlockable "Pikmin 3" concept art and photos, or some previews of new Pikmin in "Pikmin 3", or an extra level or two and some more stuff to collect, or at least a trailer for the "New Play Control! Pikmin 2" game that is supposed to be released sometime this year. I love this remake of "Pikmin" for the Wii and I hope that "New Play Control! Pikmin 2" and "Pikmin 3" are released very soon!

Pikmin is still the fun and innovative game it was way back when, but is this rehash with new controls worth a purchase?
Pikmin was among the earlier GameCube titles, among others such as Super Smash Bros. Melee and Metroid Prime. Pikmin was very fresh and innovative, though, because the concept was different than your usual game, causing it to stand out a bit. Commanding an army of little creatures called Pikmin to help a very small man when he crash lands on a strange planet just hadn't really been done in games before. Pikmin sure got it right the first time, though, in a great, creative game that earned a pretty strong fan base. Now, with Nintendo's New Play Control, Pikmin has come to Wii with new controls and... new controls. Is this Wii rendition still a great game or just a tired concept?

Pikmin's story involves Captain Olimar crash landing on a strange planet on a trip of some sort. His ship is in shambles, and he is able to locate 30 parts from the ship that he needs to get home. His life support will only last him for 30 days, though, because a toxic substance called 'oxygen' exists in the air. He quickly encounters a small creature which he names Pikmin, and this interesting species of little beings help him find the 30 parts of his ship and return home, and along the way the Pikmin learn independence and gain the ability to survive on their dangerous home planet. The story is very unique and that's what makes it great. The game is all centered on these concepts and they work extremely well in every aspect of the game.

Commanding Pikmin is easy enough. Simply press A to throw one or pick one out of the ground, press B to call them to you, C to sort them, and down on the control pad to direct them. The Wii's unique controls come into play with the pointer; you point at the screen to direct your throwing and where your Pikmin will go. All of these functions work almost perfectly; all potential frustrations are very few and far between. The Wii's small additions to the controls are quite good too, and the game fits perfectly with the new control scheme.

The gameplay is all about getting the Pikmin to carry parts back to your ship and create even more Pikmin (they carry things back to their 'Onion' which spits out new ones). Getting your Pikmin to do what you want them to is the key to your success, and there are many strategies involved with that. Strategy comes in especially with the three types of Pikmin: the reds (resistant to fire), yellows (can be thrown higher and can also use bombs), and blues (weaker but able to go in water). There are many challenges involved with using the different types of Pikmin, which at least keeps the game from being a walk in the park the first time through.

Once you've beaten the game, though, it truly is a walk in the park to beat it again. This is where all the replay value lies: seeing how fast you can beat the game and how many Pikmin you can produce within the 30 in-game days. Aside from the main story there is a challenge mode, in which you see how many Pikmin you can get in one day, but that feels like a waste of time when the real game is so much more fun. Overall Pikmin suffers from a lack of content, even if the bulk of what it has is simply fantastic.

Pikmin looked pretty good on the GameCube as a launch title; the difference between it and games from the generation before is pretty drastic. Nowadays the graphics still look passable and sometimes pretty nice (especially the water) but there isn't any improvement from the game that came out so many years ago. With the New Play Control version there are supposedly HD graphics, but HD always makes even the sharpest of Wii games look like a mess.

Pikmin still sounds great, though. Everything from the gut-wrenching death sounds the Pikmin make to the sounds they make when they triumph are just great. All the effects fit very well with what they go to and sound great all the time. The music is also awesome, especially the unforgettable theme from the Impact Site.

Being a total rehash with updated controls, New Play Control Pikmin has its ups and downs. The bad part is just that: it's simply a rehash of a 7-or 8-year-old game with new controls. The good part comes to the people who don't already own the game, though: they get to experience a fantastic game in a new way, and those are the people who should buy this Wii version. If you own the GameCube game then don't bother with this, just play through that version again. But if you don't own the original game, I highly recommend you give New Play Control Pikmin a shot, because you don't want to miss out on this fun, innovative, and high quality game a second time.

Positive:
+ solid, fun gameplay
+ commanding 100 little Pikmin is pretty awesome
+ new Wii controls suit the game nicely
+ great replay value
+ plenty of challenges along the way

Negative:
- no graphical improvements from GameCube game
- very little content

Sad follow up...
If you played the original and loved it and are thinking of buying this game DO NOT! I figured I'd give it a try when I found it for , and well frankly I'd like my money back. I wouldn't even pay a dollar for this game, it's nothing like the original. The controls are completely different which makes it much less like cooking things and requires a skill and speed set that I personally will never possess. I've played the game all of twice for less than 10 minutes because I get so frustrated at being able to get it to do anything. You aren't going through the motions of the cooking like the first one you are trying to really quickly do the right jerk of the remote in time to get the arrow in a certain space on the bar and every time you get one the movement of the arrow drastically increases, I can't hardly get two in a row much less three. Don't waste your time or money with the product, just love the original and let's hope they go back to that if another one comes out.

Great game!
My daughter absolutely loves playing this video game! Very entertaining and easy to use. Would recommend it to eveybody!

falena's review
My daughters luv this game as well as my niece. It was on their Xmas list, however we have it on nintendo ds which made it easier for the wii.

pretty disappointing
My kids were real excited till they tried it. It was embarassing how stupid this game was. It isn't really even a game. After about 5 minutes they both decided they were not interested at all. An easy pass.

Fun Game
Bought for my granddaughter and she loves it. She had played the earlier version at our house and really enjoyed it so we bought this for her for Christmas. She would play it every day (and probably all day) if her parents would let her. It also gives her some ideas for new dishes to make since she loves to cook.

Equal parts amorphous blob of paint, struggling artist, revolutionary and juvenile delinquent, de Blob's goal is to replace the drab, lifeless gray coloring that the I.N.K.T. Corporation has imposed on Chroma City and its inhabitants, the Raydians, with a range of vibrant life-giving colors, all the while avoiding and battling the gray-clad forces of the Inkies.

Players must acquire paint and hurl de Blob at the buildings, walls, statues, roads and skies above Chroma City. As de Blob bounces around, adding color wherever he lands, his supply of paint is depleted and he begins to dry out. As this happens players must collect more paint and rehydrate in pools and in front of hydrants scattered across the city. As the game starts access is limited to the colors red, blue and yellow, but these can be blended to create a number of other colors. Being able to create and apply these colors becomes important as Chroma City and its inhabitants come to life, and de Blob makes contact with a range of other characters known as the 'Color Revolutionaries' and receives an increasing amount of missions that charge him with splattering color all over town. Success at these mission gains the player point which drives the game forward, eventually leading to a direct assault on Comrade Black's I.N.K.T. fortress guarded by elite Inky soldiers and massive ink turrets.

Key Game Features:

  • de Blob - Flip, bounce and paint your way past the all-powerful I.N.K.T. Corporation to launch a revolution and save Chroma City from a future without vibrant color.
  • Long Live Color! - Join the Color Revolutionaries in the resistance against the evil Comrade Black and his diabolical array of hot plates, electric shocks, and ink turrets.
  • Free the Citizens - Free your friends from a black and white world by dodging ink cannons, flattening I.N.K.T. tanks and outsmarting Inky soldiers.
  • Save your City - Remix Chroma City’s towering skyscrapers, expansive bridges and massive landmarks in your own style using custom paints, patterns and soundtracks.
  • Make a Mess - Super-size your blob as you splash, spray, and splatter everything you touch in sprint, race and combat challenges.
  • Multiplayer - Compete for control as ink levels rise and wind cannons fire in eight multiplayer-specific gameplay modes.
Plenty of Play Modes
de Blob features both a deep story-driven singleplayer mode where players get to dig into the Raydian's struggle against all-powerful I.N.K.T. Corporation, as well as a diverse range of multiplayer options. These multiplayer campaigns support up to four players, come with street and sewer maps and include four player split-screen functionality. Just a few of the multiplayer campaigns include:

Paint Match - Paint as many buildings as possible and steal points from opponents by re-painting the buildings that they've already covered.

Blob on the Run - A variation of 'Capture the Flag,' in this mode only one blob can paint and is pursued by opponents who attempt to slam him into submission and gain the ability to paint and accumulate points themselves.

Blob Race - In this mode buildings can only be painted once and are indicated by in-game arrow. With time limited it's a race not only to paint the town but also to keep opponents from doing the same.

Psycho-addictive for the task oriented player who has too much time on their hands
I can't believe how much time I have wasted on this game. It is so cute, that even after I completed the game, I still went back finish the detail on the different levels. Probably as entertaining as lego starwars without the nostalgic character appeal. For the price tag it is a no brainer.

Very underrated Wii game
This is one of the Wii's most original games. Everything is fantastic even down to the menu interface. The game does have a story that has some great cutscenes and aren't overdone or stall gameplay. The music is one of the best of any videogame I've played. You can choose different music types and even then that certain music type will slightly change as your blob changes. The game has some great depth. Watching any video review won't even do it justice. It looks simple, but there's much more to it. The game isn't a straight up button smasher, but requires you to think a little as well. The graphics are only second to the beautiful Mario Galaxy and include a myriad of colors. It just looks fantastic when you're painting a city.

DeBlob or not to DeBlob
I find the game to boring for older kids and it takes to long to play for younger kids. I would not recommend this game!

Good non-violent fun
Got this for my 10 year old son. He really liked it - while I don't think this is one he'll be playing in a year, for a few months now he really likes it. His 2 year old sister loves watching him play it.

Best low cost game for the wii
I got this game mainly for my 4 year old son, but thought I might play it as well. The game is really fun and fairly simple. I thought the controls might be a bit hard for my son, but he figured it out fairly quickly. He will occasionally get frustrated when trying to jump up somewhere as the controls for that part are a little imprecise. Only other complaint is that you have to finish an entire level before saving. Really dumb on the part of the developers, they should have had an auto save every 5 minutes or even at each gate you open within the level. But, overall, a really cool game at a price that is a bargain!

BOOM BLOX, is the first game developed in collaboration between two giants of multimedia entertainment, Electronic Arts and director/producer, Steven Spielberg. Spielberg is obviously a master storyteller and so knows a thing or two about blockbusters, but he also no stranger to the gaming world. A long-time gamer himself, he conceived the original idea behind Lucas Art’s PC/Mac title The Dig, but busting these BLOX is an entirely new concept.

Awesome game.
This game is going to be a super hit fun series for Nintendo Wii. This is another type of game you can only get on DS or Wii. Xbox 360, PS3 cannot deliver this kind of intense, involved gameplay. Over 300 levels, plus create your own levels and adventures, this game will keep your entertained for a long time to come.

Best Wii game evar, but this price is comical
Simply put, this is one of the best Wii games ever made. It's fantastic fun, very interactive, and hugely popular with everyone I've showed it to.

[...]

great game
I played this game at a friends house and loved it! the reason it was so great was that even though I had never played befor I was still able to quickly catch on and even beat him sometimes. This is great because you can enjoy it with anyone young, old, experienced or inexperienced!
p.s. I wrote this review on the wii internet channel

Many Modes and Pretty Fun
Consider Jenga with more towers, exploding blocks, modes to destroy in fewest throws of a ball or pull down without knocking off certain objects or negative point blocks. It is good to play with someone else too. There is one really boring mode where you throw a ball at blocks going by. I recommend skipping that and going straight to knocking stuff down or carefully pulling blocks. This is fun to play with my wife, especially to work together cooperatively.

It isn't a deep game. Many 4-star games offer a lot more than this one. But you have to rate the game for what it is and among its genre of casual games. It is more fun than playing Jenga.

Hard to put down
You may think this game is childish (and goofy), but dude! Its fun and hard to put down. How can't you go wrong with throwing bowling balls, bombs-balls, etc. at blocks! This game is great fun for everyone.

A New Sonic a New Story
On a quest for world domination Sonic nemesis Dr. Eggman has managed to steal the chaos emeralds once again and this time drained them of their power. As a result not only has the Earth split into distinct sections, so has Sonic. Now he is two beings. During the day he is the usual speed-addicted hedgehog players will remember, but at night he becomes Sonic the Werehog. In either form it is the player's ultimate goal to find the missing chaos emeralds and return them to their proper place in order to set the world and Sonic himself, back the way he should be.

Gameplay: The Two Sides of Sonic
Like nearly all Sonic games, Sonic Unleashed is platform-based. The game combines the feel of 2D side-scrolling that fans of the Sonic series love, with sharp 3D graphics, and throws in an over the back third-person perspective reminiscent of FPS gameplay for good measure. And just as in earlier games, as players race through and explore the expansive world before them, using auto lock to hone in on enemies and areas of interest, they will rely on the power they gain from the rings they collect for a variety of things, but with the new twist of Sonic's split personality, things are a little bit different.

Playing during the day, as you race across the world in the form of Sonic, speed is the main goal. Collecting rings fills you with 'Ring Energy,' which not only provides extra life, but also the advantage of 'Sonic Boost.' With this players can travel at speeds that approximate 300 MPH. In addition, Sonic Unleashed introduces two new features: the 'Speed Drift' and the 'Quick Step'. Speed Drifting is similar to drifting in racing games, allowing players to slide around corners at high speeds, while Quick Stepping is a sidestepping maneuver allowing Sonic to avoid enemies with quick steps to either side. Both keep you moving as fast as possible, so you can get as many rings as possible, which again keeps you moving as fast as possible.

As night falls and Sonic assumes his Werehog form the rings provide a different kind of power more suited to his more menacing appearance. Much slower, but also much more powerful, the Werehog relies on the rings to provide life as well as strength to shield himself from the attacks of enemies. This is necessary because Werehog gameplay, although based in platforming, incorporates significant levels of combat as well. Red orbs gathered as enemies are defeated allow the player to unlock additional combo moves that will supplement the hack and slash and arm stretching abilities that the Werehog always possesses. Whether Hedgehog or Werehog, no matter which form players prefer they will get ample opportunity to explore the two sides of Sonic since each area in the game contains both night and day segments where each form must be played.

Key Game Features:

  • Sonic’s World Transformed - Sonic maintains his high-speed abilities during the day, but at night he is transformed into a mysterious dark form with incredible never-before-seen abilities including 3D-action brawling and amazing agility.
  • Tight Navigation and Speed Control - Players accelerate to super speed with ‘Sonic Boost’ by collecting rings to increase Sonic’s ‘Ring Energy.’ Using ‘Quick Step,’ players will quickly move left or right to avoid obstacles instantly. Additionally, ‘Speed Drift’ allows players to rocket through turns without slowing down.
  • Powerful New Engine and Cinematic Graphics - With its new modified game engine, Sonic Unleashed enhances the classic 2D perspective with mind-blowing 3D stages. Other technology capabilities include global illumination, grid computing, continuous data streaming and an intricate path finding system.
  • Enhanced and Expanded Environments - Many unique and fascinating continents offer the player an opportunity to save the world in a dynamic, high-speed experience. In addition to exploring exciting unlockable areas, players dash through up to nine locations resembling real-life destinations including the Great Wall of China, Arctic Pole glaciers and many more.
Whether it's the updated graphics that retain the side-scrolling feel of classic games in the Sonic franchise, an expansive world to race through and explore or the multiple and new ways to play, Sonic Unleashed offers something for players of any age or level of ability.

A good mesh of two gaming styles
This game has received a lot of negative reviews both by regular players and professional game critics. The primary complaint seems to be that the werehog levels are too slow and the combat is mindless. Other complaints are that the controls are difficult to use, or that one has to button mash ([...], amazon.com). I, however, feel quite the opposite.

The night stages (werehog) are much slower than the day stages (hedgehog), but not worse. These stages are reminiscent of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time or Super Mario 64, so much so that when I was recently playing SM64 I shook the N64 controller accidentally trying to punch. The combat is not long at all if you don't button mash. Yes, one can usually make it through combat by swinging with reckless abandon, but to win with lots of health left and win quickly? No. The combos can be tricky and challenging, as well as using the proper combat maneuvers.

The 3D platforming in this game is made so much more fun by the werehog's stretchy arms. Jumping from the molding on a crumbling building to a teetering platform full of bad guys over a giant vortex can be pretty exhilarating! The use of the Wii remote is excellent in pulling levels, swinging on poles, climbing, and throwing crates! In the upper levels especially, the puzzles are very well thought out. None are frustratingly hard to solve. All are fun. If you don't like 3D platformers though, this game isn't for you. (n00b)

As day breaks, so does the sound barrier. Sonic in his normal form (day stages) is faster than ever before. These stages are amazing as far as the amount of detail that goes into the stages' graphics. While playing these stages you will see the countryside whip by in a blur of color, but if you slow down you can see advertisements for Japanese style haircuts, flowers, and houses with 3D objects inside.

These day stages are much shorter but (maybe I was just not as good) have to be replayed several times to complete with the best ranking. They make up a smaller part of the game but are similar to Sonic advance 2 (not really like the genesis titles), or a racing game where you beat up badniks on the track. Even my most flawless runs (take the best secrets, avoid damage, etc.) have room for improvement making the re-playability value for these VERY high. Fun to play with friends too, I just wish it had online high scores or something!

The storyline has so many cinematic scenes with great graphics and funny writing that I really didn't notice that you can't skip them! There is really only one new character in this game, Chip, and longtime fans will be pleased to note that even he probably won't ever be seen again. He is a fun maroon colored comic relief that waves farewell at the end of the story. A bit of chatting with the townspeople to find the next level adds an interesting reference to RPGs but does not go into great depth with it.

The only other thing I need to say before concluding is that it plays to a wide array of players. If you spend way too much time playing video games, looking for all the secrets, and refusing to use a strategy guide (like me), than you will find hours of enjoyment unlocking everything to get the cut scene at the end. If have a life outside of video games (like my spouse), then just playing through the main game should give you your money's worth (especially since it's cheaper than .00!). So if you are an average or experienced player, this is the game for you.

Overview:

Graphics: 100% (best graphics on Wii)
Music: 84% (some pieces are close to perfect whereas the town music is like elevator music)
Story: 90%
Day stage game play: 97%
Night stage game play: 93%
Re-playability: 91% (I have logged over 70 hours on it and still play it)
Overall: 97%

Sonic Fever
My son's can't stop playing. They enjoy this as well as all the Sonic titles.

Too much Werehog
I was looking forward to this game i thought it was OK on the Wii version however I was dissapointed that the Wii version is different to the Xbox 360 version (the Xbox 360 version is the best one) The Wii version has waaaay too much Werehog levels and they get annoying after a while. The Sonic day stages however are great but they don't last for that long.
You get around 2 acts of full day stages and the rest of the levels are small missions that last for around less than a minute. The rest is around 10 minutes of werehog in each level.
Next time if there's a sequel, sega, please drop a lot of Werehog and even out the gameplay like the Xbox 360 version.

wii nunchuck not easy
i was looking forward to playing this game but after reading these reviews it seems that i am the only one who seems to have a very difficult time getting sonic to run in a straight line using the wii nunchuck. i get frustrated after just a few minutes and quit the game. i have to tip toe to pick up rings. if anyone has any suggestions i'm all open!

Worst Sonic Game EVER!!!!
I have the Wii version and it STINKS. The Wii joystick is probably the worst piece of gaming equipment ever, and sonic is just plain dumb. He doesn't really do what you want him to do. There is toooooooo much dialogue. I want to play a game NOT WATCH A MOVIE. The werehog levels are pretty good, but they have issues too. You can barely see where or what sonic is doing at high speeds and it is ironic how I sometimes tip toe through a level; THIS IS SONIC! He's supposed to be fast and I have to tip toe?! SOOOOOOOO much wrong about this game.
