Great game ruined by terrible, useless pad.
I have had the game for a little over a week now, and it is a blast to play. Decent for working out, too--you can work up a real sweat if you play for an hour or so.

That said, as others have mentioned, the pad included is absolute junk, and makes the game unplayable. It will just randomly miss your steps and ruin your score. It doesn't seem like a big deal in writing, but so much of the enjoyment of the game hinges on getting high scores and long combos, and even if you play perfectly, the pad makes it almost impossible to do.

For instance, when you play a bonus stage, you have the chance to unlock a new song. You have to play through the whole song making no more than three errors. Well, even if you make every step perfectly, there is still a chance that the pad will miss your steps and keep you from unlocking said song. I would estimate that, in a 60-90 second song, it will miss between 5-6 steps.

It is INCREDIBLY annoying and ruins the whole fun of the game. If you want a game to workout to, maybe buy a Wii and get one of the many highly-rated workout games for that system. Otherwise, just get Guitar Hero. It's the exact same game as this, just a different controller.

If the pad worked, I would give five stars for both "fun" and "overall" ratings. As it stands, the game is frustrating and not playable beyond a certain point.

unfriendly
I've only played it for a night so far. It's the only game my wife has seen me buy that she thought she might want to try. So from my perspective and seeing her's, this game has a terrible user interface. It is not navigation friendly. I would think this would be more of the Wii crowd that gets this type of game, as such it would be easier to navigate and get right to what you want for a casual gamer. I'm not giving up on it though myself.

OK, but Just Dance is better
I recently bought both this game as well as Just Dance, and I like Just Dance a lot better.
The dance mat can be disgusting once you break a sweat and use it bare foot.
Me and my 7 year old daughter enjoy Just Dance a lot more, the upper body movements are just more fun than trying to hit the arrows with your feet.
The dance mat also move around if you use it on carpet.

I was quite disappointed because there are so many great reviews for this game on the internet.

I just can't get a cardio effect from this game.
The music titles are also somewhat lame.

We love this game.
I was hesitant to try this game at first but after you get the hang of it, it's great. You get a workout while you're playing a game! Excellent!

Wow, phew!
Talk about take a deep breathe! This is for the experienced DDR'er, which my kids and I are not, we purchased for entertainment and exercise and talk about work out. I think we will forever be basic/beginners on this game, it's for the experienced only, but if you are wanting a work out or just to have fun this game will surely do it!! Music selection isn't all that it's cracked up to be but thank goodness for downloading! We do have a whole bunch of fun and sweating moments though!

Great intro to DDR for kids
I got this for my son to introduce him to DDR. The only gaming system we have is a GameCube and this is honestly the only DDR I could find for the GameCube. (So, if anyone knows of a more adult one, let me know please!) It has been perfect for my son, who is currently 8 years old and has some trouble with coordination. It starts out slowly enough to give him some practice, and he has been able to improve his coordination quite rapidly by following the story mode.

As an adult, I'm horribly out of shape, so for a better workout, I do the free mode (I had to go through the entire story one time first, which I was able to do in one sitting). In the free mode I can put the difficulty up a little higher, which is great for me. For someone who is more experienced with DDR or more in shape than I am, I imagine this game would be too easy. But it has been an excellent fit for our family.

Good game for children - but Wii owners take note
I bought this game because I felt that the clothing and dance moves in DDR were inappropriate for children. Granted, these aspects fly over the heads of children but frankly they are embarrasing for most adults to watch in the presence of children because they are clearly not age appropriate.

The game does not disappoint in that regard while incorporating good moves that are fun to perform and watch. The story mode is a bit too "chatty" but my child doesn't seem to mind.

As a Wii owner, I had to buy separate Gamecube compatible equipment including dance mats and a memory card that will not likely be of any use when I upgrade later to DDR 2 and higher.

Great game to get kids up and moving!
Bought this game for me origanlly but found it a little young. Now my 4 year old grandson is using it. Everytime he comes over he wants to play. It's a great way to get kids up and MOVING. Love it! He can beat the game on easy in an hour. Right amount of time for him and burns off lots of energy. There are higher levels for the more adept player. But even the younger ones can have fun. I just wish there were more of them. Too many kids spend all their time sitting and playing. This is great high energy fun.

Fun for all ages
Hi y'all. i'm not going to comment on the various difficulty levels or features, cause that's been done already. Just a note on my personal experience w/ the game. I turned 57 in August 2009. Had a cardio workup done and doc says I need to get more exercise. I hate exercise!!! The endorphins never seem to kick in and I always feel like I'm being tortured. I think I've tried almost every exercise thing out there. My hubby bought me a Wii for my birthday. I love it and love this game. Scored the game and pad on the cheap on an auction site from a seller who obviously didn't have a clue that they're going for 2+ times what he was asking for the package. I love this game. I know most of you are probably in your 20s or 30s or younger, but there's a fast growing group of baby boomer gamers out there. This game gives me a decent cardio work out on the harder levels, it's lots of fun, I don't feel like I'm exercising (a big plus cause I'll keep at it) and I can play it w/ the kids and grandkids. I worked as a professional dancer when I was younger and really enjoy this game. Especially when I can beat one of my grandkids at it, then I feel like super granny! It even gets my couch potato hubby who's 63 up and shaking his booty. Now if I could just find a game that's this much fun where I get exercise and can learn Spanish too - now that'd be my dream game! So, if you're a subgbug like me and want to start exerciing and enjoying it, get a Wii and this game. PS: I use the mat on a hardwod floor. I just got some of that non-slip thin undermatting made to go under throw rugs and put that down first; the mat stays put even in the most arduous workouts.

I loved it but it was also very short
this game was awesome i love it :D but the only problem is is its length. i beat it in 2 hours. then i tried it again the second time and i beat it in 1 hour and 29 minutes. even though it is really short it is most definetly really fun. i reccomend to people who like to dance or people who dont like to excersise and want a fun way to excersise. give yourself a challenge and do it on hard mode with no breaks ;). i love this game :D

great beat for dance
It is wonderful when I am not giggling cause I get off center of the mat. Really works you out of breath.

sub par game, par mat
The set list for DDR X isn't anything special, consisting of some of the worst remixed Jpop, Anime, and some random 80s songs (WHY?!). I would suggest getting DDR extreme as well (you can easily find it used for CHEAP) since in my opinion it has the best set list of all DDRs. However, because this game is so cheap it's definitely worth getting since you get the pad AND a sprinkling of 6-7 good songs on DDR X.

It's getting cooler as each edition comes out
I used to play DDR in high school when it first came out, and haven't played it since. I am now 22 and picked it up again, and would like to say that it's coolness factor has gone up a bit. There's some better selections of songs in here, with artists like DJ Irene and a little bit of hardstyle sounding songs. Some of the characters look more realistic too, which is a plus. On the downside, there are still quite a few wierd characters dancing, and a couple "anime-ish" songs in here. Also, some of the backgrounds are kind of wierd, like a candyland one? There was a pretty cool one I came across though, like a visualiser. There's also some neat music videos in here. So although I would say there are some parts of it that could use some work, it seems to be getting cooler. The dancepad it comes with is pretty good, a lot better than the older version I used to have.

why not WII?
I WANT this for the wii but it isen't here why does this not have a WII format?!?!?!

Fun Game
This game is lots of fun that the whole family can enjoy, and you build quite a sweat doing it as well so its also a good workout.

DDR Hottest Party Bundle
I purchased this game as a means of having exercise when it rains or snows. I enjoy this game so much, I play on days when I have already worked out outdoors. I had a bit of trouble initially with the Wii Dance mat, but after pulling it out, smoothing it out, and breaking it in... all the little quirks were gone and it works perfectly fine. My only wish was that you could download more songs from the Wii store. There is an excellent variety of music, but sometimes everything being remixed into club dance or techno annoys me. What makes the game fun for me is mostly the challenges of the nearly impossible upkeep with the hand, feet, and eye coordination. Awesome for anyone who likes various music, challenges, and gettin' down. I don't recommend this game for everyone. I suggest going to an arcade to trying DDR before deciding to purchase or else if your not into dancing or that kind of music it will be a drag.

Fun?
got this as a birthday present for my daughter, she hates it says it is too hard. My husband and myself also tried it it is very hard. I have tried to convince my daughter to keep trying, it will get better, but she won't go near it.

Fun, Fun, Fun
Wow! I've never had so much fun playing a video game! And you get a workout too. Great for kids and even us adults who want to loose weight and have fun at the same time. I have a blast whenever I get on the dance pad. Its a great video game.

Want fun? You got it! Want a workout? You got it!
This was the first Dance Dance Revolution game that was released for the Wii. It comes with dance mat that is in a 3x3 format. It has a right, left, forward, and back arrow. The top right button is an A and the top left button is B. This is what I thought of the game:

Story-There isn't really a story unless you play the Groove Circuit mode which is where you do certain things like beat 3 songs with at least a score of 1,000,000 or something. By doing these tasks you will unlock new songs for your song list. At the beginning of the game you have about 25 songs, and that is the list you start with.

Graphics-They aren't that bad, actually. The characters look really good doing their dance moves, and the backgrounds are funky and cool-looking.

Sound-The songs are, of course, the best part of the game. They are really fun songs with everything from "Disco Inferno" to "Heavens and the Earth" to "Caught Up" to "The Sign." I loved the songs, but in all (once you've unlocked them all) there are 50, and they do get old. I know that 50 sounds like a lot, but say you play 10 songs everytime you play. That would be about 30 minutes, and doing that every day, you would get sick of them. That is why I took off one star.

Gameplay-There are five options on the main menu. 1.Groove Circuit, which I have already talked about. 2.Free Play, where you can play any song that you have already unlocked. This is what I play the most. 3.Workout Mode, this allows you to workout by either burning a certain amount of calories or by dancing a set time. 4.Records, where it tells you the best score for the dances and so on. 5.Options, this is self-explanatory. Another thing is that each song has 4 difficulty levels Beginner, Basic, Difficult, and Expert. Expert is extremely hard, and having done this game for a year, I still haven't tried it. I still play on Difficult. You can also add the hand markers which use the wiimote and nunchuk. You just shake them whenever the hand marker comes up depending on whether it's a right hand marker or a left one. It really makes it different from all other DDR games, but I now turn them off because it's not fun for me, but others will like it.

Fun-This is a great game, and it is really fun! You aren't going to learn real dance moves or something. You're just going to have a great time moving your feet to some really great songs.

Length-It will last you forever, but remember that the songs get old after a while. I still haven't finished Groove Circuit Mode after a year, and I'm still having fun, I just don't play it every day.

Overall, I love this game and recommend it to people even if you don't like real dancing. The songs are great, and the game itself is fun, and not that hard to learn how to play. I love it, and I recommend it to everyone.

Is a mess using your hands ( En espanol Tambien)
The game features great music as all the DDR, but it seems like the sync with the wii remote dont work as well as the pad. Sometimes (not to say always) I used to shake the wii remote at the same time I was suppose to, but still it dosen't get it is not sync. I will recommend to just play the old DDR with out using thye hands.

El juego es divertido pero no lo malo es que aveces no esta sincronizado para utilizarse con las manos. Es mejor el juego normal de DDR. La musica como siempre esta super.

Hand Gestures and New Gimmicks
Although loaded all the familiar mat mashing DDR fun, in utilizing the motion sensing capabilities of the Wii Remote, DanceDanceRevolution Hottest Party 2 also brings new moves to the floor in the form of Hand Gestures and Gimmicks. Hand gestures require players to keep time to the rhythm of songs, beyond the step pattern they dance to, by shaking the Wii Remote or Nunchuck. In effect this adds a third dimension to the traditional front to back/side to side gameplay, resulting in an even more full-body experience. In addition, if players so choose they can also up their difficulty level through Gimmicks. Through these players can briefly alter the game's UI--for example delaying the appearance of on-screen arrows--forcing them to rely on their rhythm instead of screen prompts and in the process pick up major bonuses.

Key Game Features:

  • All-new soundtrack includes smash-hits from the last 4 decades as well as Konami originals, boss battle songs and videos.
  • Dance mat included with game.
  • 1-4 player support.
  • Cool new modes and features:
    • Your Mii can now be incorporated onto the DanceDanceRevolution dance floor.
    • Brand-New Gimmicks, such as the Minimizer, add to the next evolution in DanceDanceRevolution gameplay.
    • More Wii mote interaction in the Dance n' Defend Battle Mode where players use Wii mote movements to beat their opponents.
    • Nonstop dance action with the new Course Mode, various set themed song lists that players dance along to.
    • Unlock hidden features in the Groove Arena Mode as you battle your way to the top of this new venue.
    • Learn real dance moves and practice the same routines as the characters from all different angles with the brand new Hottest Training Mode.
    • All new DanceDanceRevolution characters with new outfits, exclusive to Hottest Party 2.
  • Enhanced motion capture will be applied to all characters for increased realism and customization.
  • New stages with enhanced effects, with more than 50 unique dance environments.
The New Hottest Training Mode
Finally, DanceDanceRevolution Hottest Party 2 also includes a new lesson track system. Unlike the tutorial tracks in previous releases that relied heavily on text explanations, here players new to DDR gameplay will enjoy both video and audio encouragement and direction from their own on-screen instructor. As "left, right"…"front, back" etc. are called out all dance floor newbies have to do to place their feet accordingly on the mat and there you have it. You've joined the DanceDance revolution. So, whether you are new to the DDR universe, or a master of the disco ball, get ready to become the life of the party, the Hottest Party, with DanceDanceRevolution Hottest Party 2 for the Wii gaming system.

I love the Dance Dance Revolution series and this title fits in with the rest. The songs are not current, so if you are looking to rock out and jump around to techno versions of current songs, you need to look somewhere else. The only semi-current song is Umbrella by Rhianna.
But the songs on here are recognizable, they are pretty classic disco/techno songs that work just fine with what the game is for.
The mat leaves somethings to be desired, but then you can't really expect it to be like the big bulky metal ones at arcades. It does move becuase it is just a sheet of plastic, oh well, you deal with it.
I am glad I bought this game and I am having a great time with it.

WAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH
This game is way too hard for the average enthusiast. My two children 7 and 9 and my husband and I are definately not coordinated enough to do this. However I think if you have tried and like the arcade version you would like the home version as well. Probably more geared towards teens/twenty somethings.

Good for the price
Home casual player. Fun. Little hard for old fat body. NutChunk sensor seems not work very well. If more songs from different countries would be better.

Awesome!
Totally fun and you don't even know you are exercising!Only one problem, the A button connection was weak and quit during the game. What a bummer :(

Fun Stuff
The different game modes made just wanting to start dancing a bit confusing but once we got the hang of it, the game's a blast. Beginner level is easy enough for my 5 year old nephew to keep up and advanced is absolutely brutal.

Long-term fun
These pads make playing DDR much more fun and comfortable than the pad that comes with the game. The padding is sturdy yet comfortable to hop and jump on. So far it seems to be well-made and holding up. We've had them a few weeks with almost daily use.

Bad experience
Purchased this mat to go with DDR games thinking it would be better than the included mat, and provide a padded surface for playing. We found it to be unresponsive and definately not "premium or deluxe" in it's operation. The mat itself was very nice and had it worked would have been great. We returned it and just stuck with the included mat, which worked great, and was much less expensive. Amazon has a great return policy and made it easy.

I Feel Like I've been Scammed
The dance pad surface had a small tear when we unfolded from the package. The crinkly material seems to lend itself to tearing. We installed the pad and used it anyway. The pads are too soft for the thickness causing a tendency for twisted ankles AND it doesn't work well AT ALL--"super sensitive", I don't think so! The pad that comes with the Wii is far superior. I'm going to return these (yes, I bought 2) and stick with the "original. If the vendor expects us to pay any shipping or restocking fee we'll be doubly disappointed!

Great when it worked
This DDRGame dance pad is superior to the one that comes with Dance Dance Revolution for the Wii. The setup is very easy and involves assembling foam puzzle pieces to insert in the vinyl sleeve. In fact, it makes the game so much more fun that I finally decided to get another, that is, until it stopped working. The original Konami pad that shipped with the game, which has been abused by everyone that comes to my house to play, still works perfectly.

Note that I got this dance pad directly from ddrgame, and should I had researched a bit more, I would have noticed their site does not mention any warranty, but does mention a 30 day return policy, twenty percent restocking fee, and thirty-five dollars fee for returns with damaged packaging.

DDR Game Super Sensitive Dance Pad
This dance pad is much better than the one that comes with Konami's DDR : Hottest Party game. There is a 1-inch thick foam insert that makes it so much easier on your knees and the arches of your feet. Also, the sensors underneath the arrows are much more responsive so you don't have to be directly in the center of the arrow for it to register with the game. You can disassemble the pad for easier transport. The foam insert fits together like jigsaw pieces. You don't have to slide the foam pieces in, the zipper goes all the way around so you can open the cover, place the foam pieces in and then zip up. Although the manual says to play with bare feet, I play with socks because bare feet tend to stick to the dance pad.

Pretty Good
The only thing that irritates me about this game is the point system to buy songs at the shop, I mean, itdoesn't tell you how much you need to get one.

A pain to unlock
I own most DDR games that have come out for PS2, and they seem to get worse with time. I won't complain about song lists and such, my biggest annoyance is that with every new game it gets more impossible to unlock songs. I prefer the old system of unlocking a song after you've played X amount of songs rather than the hyper master mode. Unless you're a pro at the game, you won't get your money's worth. I play for fun and this kills the fun.

Marvelous
I have been a DDR fan since late middle school, well into college I still love to play and it is an integral part of my workout routines (of course I do play heavy mode). This game is fun for fans and new players alike, as there are tough songs, enjoyable songs, and of course combos of both.

A good price and Fast Shipment
Once you buy the system, the kids want more songs. The product is what it is so buying at the least price is the best deal.

A good DDR but not the same feel as DDR Extreme.
This is my first DDR supernova, I really don't like the game so much. I was playing the DDR extreme series, which is way better. The music in this selection is very bad, and the few good songs, by some mysterious reason, doesn't last to the end, like Take on Me from A-HA. Strange. It is a very playable game for DDR fans, but no improvements whatsoever.

Bad quality
The mat bunches up underneath your feet... the pad that comes in the bundle with the game is _much_ higher quality.

DDR Dance pad; Not arcade metal pad but will do.
This Dance Dance Revolution Dance pad for home use is really neat. Its not going to be stable like the big metal arcade ones of course but it gets the job done. Easy to fold and put away, dont get dirty at all (unless you like to eat ketchup Popsicle while dancing[which is dangerous by the way])and also fun. The pad does move around while you dance any if you have big feet (like myself) you will be pressing a few buttons at a time. Good cardio work out and really makes you break a sweat and so much fun to play. Get it!

Great Dance pad
Pad was about as perfect as you can expect. Especially considering the low price. 5 stars, and highly recommended!

PS2 Dance pad
